About Us
Marpole Oakridge Family Place aims to promote family wellbeing. We provide a welcoming, supportive and relaxing environment for parents, caregivers and children to meet, socialize, play and learn.
History
Marpole Oakridge Family Place began 31 years ago in a private living room. From there it moved to a small room at Marpole Oakridge Community Centre where it was operated twice a week by volunteers who relied on donations. Today Marpole Oakridge Family Place occupies its own expansive premises in the heritage building that used to be the old Marpole Fire house on Hudson and West 70th Avenue. Four permanent staff and several contract staff, assisted by experienced volunteers, offer a full range of programming providing education support and fun for parents and caregivers of children aged 0-early six. someone's living room and it has come a long way since. It moved from its humble beginnings at Marpole Oakridge Community Centre, where it was operated twice a week just by donations and volunteers, to the free-standing and fully-operating society it is today. MOFP now resides in expansive space in the old fire hall building on Hudson St and 70th. It has four permanent staff, several contract staff for various programs, and it is able to provide a range of supportive and fun programs for parents and children.
